On Tuesday, February 8, 2011 it was a gorgeous warm day so we went to the beach. A day at the beach in February what could be better. The beach was endless and the water was a little cold, but there was tons of huge shells and lots seaweed. I went for a walk along the beach and looked for shells. I found a whole crab shell which was pretty cool. I laid out in the sun for awhile and I was one of a few that did not get burned after 6 hours at the beach. I went up to the pier with Katie and Becca. We walked along the pier where the water looked so gorgeous and peaceful. Lots of people were fishing and catching crabs.
Most of the group did the Hannah Montana hoe down on the beach which was pretty fun and then the rest of us worked on building a huge sandcastle with a mote and a shells drawbridge. It was one amazing castle. And we didn't even use a pail or shovel. It was all by hand. James told us about a guy who was there sand painting so we all went to see. It was pretty cool. he made a mural with hearts and a dance and Vanessa's brightest star.Katie found a long stick and tried to imitate him by making a crazy heart and writing all of the girl's names. It looked pretty sweet. I started reading a Season for Gifts at the beach. I just love reading at the beach, one of my favorite things. The day at the beach was so great. I wish I could spend more days like this one. It is so hard to picture that everyone else I know is freezing back home and in Provo.
We made our left over pasta that night and then watched Freedom Writers. That is one of my favorite movies and the perfect one to inspire all of us before we start teaching.
